1, can you get to it? 2, can you remove the sheet metal cover, or duct work that covers it? If so, I would recommend using a "fin" comb to remove the animal/human hair, and other gunk on it. Then use a evaporator coil cleaner on it. If you don't have a fin comb, a toilet bowl brush or other stiff brush should work. 3, replace filters once a month, and never use the unit without a filter.
