What do I do when "Drain Out Crystals" fail to unclog my shower?

I just attempted to use the product as per the instructions on the side of the container. Unfortunately, there seems to be a worsening in the standing water after trying to water down the product. I have been advised to use Drano Max Gel or a snake. Is there an optimal solution? Should I just call my landlord?
