Does anyone know anything about drum touch pads?

I'm thinking about getting a set of drum pads for a little project me and my friend were thinking of setting up. I was hoping to get something very similar to what the xx use, but a bit more 80's electro. I don't know if anyone knows a lot about this kind of thing but I'm completely lost. Any advice is appreciated.
